Facilities

At Estes, we’re laying the groundwork for more sustainable shipping—one facility at a time. Across our vast network of service centers, we’re investing in smarter, more environmentally conscious freight shipping solutions that support our people, our customers, and the planet. From solar power and long-life LED lighting to improved materials management and resource conservation, every investment is a step toward a cleaner, more responsible future.

Explore our information below to learn more about the steps Estes is taking to make our facilities more sustainable.

Estes invests in solar energy as a nonpolluting, renewable resource that delivers reliable power year-round. Over a dozen Estes service centers have solar arrays, and this number continues to grow annually.

In 2025, our solar arrays generated over three million kWh of clean electricity—offsetting the equivalent of more than 5.2 million miles driven by gasoline-powered cars. As we grow, we’re continuing to invest in smarter, more efficient solar technology to maximize our impact.

Recycling: In 2025, Estes recycled nearly 954 tons of material, with an overall recycling rate of 3.25% for paper/cardboard, wood, and scrap metal. Additional recycling and repurposing initiatives include:

  • Battery core recycling
  • Engine-rebuilding: Estes completed more than 120 engine rebuilds in 2025
  • Rebuilding gear boxes, hydraulic cylinders, and fifth wheels
  • Refurbishing and converting old trailers
  • Oil recycling
  • Tire recapping and recycling

We are committed to reducing fleet and office waste. From August through December 2025, over 5,800 pounds of electronics waste was recycled.

Stormwater, Tanks, and Oil Spill Prevention: Estes employs stormwater control measures and best management practices (BMPs) to achieve stormwater discharge permit compliance and general stormwater compliance for all facilities. Our underground and above ground storage tanks comply with applicable federal and state regulations.
